Keeping it simple

Disaster recovery?

Do we do enough to protect our business if disaster strikes?

It is amazing, the number of companies that do not have an effective disaster recovery or business continuity plan in place.

Those that do rarely carry out any exercises to see if they work!

HSEQ Associates strongly recommend that you have a plan, keep it simple, tell everyone about it and check that it works. Keep contact information updated always.

.Site Waste Management Plans Now SWMP’s are mandatory for UK Constructors

Construction firms are being urged to take action on waste as SWMP’s are now required on all projects whose value exeeds £300,000 effective from 6th April 2008.

Originally developed as a DTI Voluntary Code of Practice, SWMPs provide a structure for systematic waste management at all stages of a project's delivery.

Note: The Client is required to issue the SWMP to the Principle Contractor prior to work commencing.

HSE Warns Employers

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is warning employers to ensure they take appropriate measures to protect employees from falls, after a Sunderland building firm was fined £10,000 today following an incident in which one of its workers was injured.

Companies must assess the risks from work that they are undertaking at height and make sure that suitable measures to prevent a fall are in place. All work at height should be planned, organised, supervised and carried out by competent persons.

The HSE is currently running a campaign aimed at raising awareness of the devastating consequences of falls.
